My name is Kayla, and I am a Certified birth doula (DONA) and Certified Placenta Encapsulation Specialist (IPPA), serving the general Traverse City area and beyond. I have been married to my best friend since 2003, and we have 7 incredible children. I've given birth to my first five children in a hospital.  My sixth and seventh were born at home in beautiful planned home births.  They were the most supported and amazing experience. It absolutely confirmed that this is where I belong.  I've been passionate about assisting women and their families in this incredibly sacred time in their lives since I was a little girl.  I even have a writing assignment from first grade in which I had to write and draw a picture about what I wanted to be when I grew up.  On that paper was the first time I clearly stated that I wanted to deliver and care for moms and babies, and I drew a picture of "me" holding a baby. This passion has been deeply rooted in me for my entire life.  I am so blessed to be on this path.

Following my passions, and wanting to also help bring additional education and safety to my clients and their family, I certified as a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) through Safe Kids Worldwide.  As well as participating in community car seat safety events, I offer my clients education and assistance in safe car seat installation, usage, and vehicle safety.

I am also currently in training as a Certified Midwife Assistant, and am certified in Neonatal Resuscitation, adult/pediatric/infant CPR, and completed my certification through Stillbirthday in 2017 as a Bereavement Doula for families facing pregnancy or infant loss.
